Access Agreement
An access agreement is a document setting out how a university or college charging higher fees intends to safeguard and promote fair access to higher education through its outreach work, financial support etc.

ALG
Assembly Learning Grant - is an income-assessed grant for students living in Wales.

Charis Grant
Charis Grants offer grant awards for utility debt and other essential household bills and costs.

CTC
Child Tax Credit

DHSPPS
Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety - provides bursaries for medical students in their fifth and later years who live in Northern Ireland wherever they study in the UK.

DSA
Disabled Students Allowances - non-income assesed allowances to help with extra costs you have as a result of undertaking your course and as a direct result of your disability.

DWP
Department of Work and Pensions - responsible for welfare and pension policy in the UK

EEA
European Economic Area - The EEA consists of the countries in the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

EU
European Union. The member states of the EU in order of joining are Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, UK, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria.

Fee Loan
Fee Loan enables you to delay paying your tuition fees until after you have graduated.

FSA
Financial Services Authority - an independent body responsible for the regulation of the financial services industry in the UK.

FSCS
The FSCS is the UK's compensation fund of last resort for customers of authorised financial services firms. We may pay compensation if a firm is unable, or likely to be unable, to pay claims against it. This is usually because it has stopped trading or has been declared in default.

HEMG
Higher Education Maintenance Grant - for full time students for help with living costs. Grants are available to students whose household income is £42,600 or less.

HMRC
Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs - responsible for the collection of taxes and the payment of some forms of state support.

IBESA
Income Based Employment and Support Allowance
