Whether you are starting out at University, or entering your next year, it is important to know that you’re not alone. There is support in place for all students. Read on to see where you can go for advice and support if you need it.
Student Services
Most Universities have Student Services with advisors and counsellors who can help with a range of issues. Student Services should be able to help you with financial problems or direct you to the most appropriate place within the University.
Student Finance Offices
Some Universities have offices that deal specifically with student finance issues including bursaries, scholarships, hardships funds, advice and support.
Student Unions
Many Student Unions have advice services offering students advice and guidance on dealing with debt, money management, problems with student support and financial hardship.
Independent money advisor
Here at Money4MedStudents we have an Independent Money Advisor who can answer your money queries via email and refer you to an advisor at your institution if necessary.
How to find help:
· Edit the ‘your student life’ box on the right hand side of the home page to include your medical school.
· Go to the ‘getting advice’ section on the menu at the top.
· On the left hand side menu you will find a box saying ‘University of (name) Advice’. Click on this to find support services at your institution.
You can also search on your University or Student Union home pages for advice and support services. Try and find a ‘current students’ section or ‘support with university life’. If they have a search box you could try the following terms: student services, student funding, finance.
