Learning for Free
|
In the third part of our series on web resources every money-savvy student should have in their favourites, we’re talking edumacation. Free edumacation, that is. Check out the educational resources you can access without so much as glancing at your wallet!
1. www.askdrclarke.com
A website to complement a final year revision course, but open to all, not just attendees of the course. Includes students’ own notes and videos of clinical examinations.
2. www.bmjlearning.com
Access gained by being a BMA member, or having an Athens account. Up-to-date information is organised into ‘modules’, which can be taken, passed and recorded in a plan. Used by ‘real’ doctors to stay up to date!
3. www.revise4finals.co.uk
Examination resource: revision notes, exam notes, practical procedure notes, and lots of other notes!
4. www.medicalfinals.co.uk
Irish medical finals site, with a good section on radiology.
5. www.doctors.net.uk
The UK’s biggest online community of doctors. Free online textbooks, as well as news, forums and a free professional email address for life.
6. www.studentconsult.com
Primarily for activating online versions of purchased books, but also contains case studies and revision questions.
7. www.scrubbingup.com
Online community of medical students with free presentation library, question bank and podcasts.
8. www.searchmedica.co.uk
A free dedicated medical search engine, originally designed for GPs. Points you in the direction of juicy medical info without the usual internet dross to trawl through!
