Q: As a student will I receive free helath care?
A:
UK Students.
All UK residents are eligible for free treatment from a GP or NHS hospital. However, certain health costs (such as prescriptions) have to be paid for by some.
If you are on certain benefits, such as income support, then you will automatically receive full help with health costs.
If you are under 19 and a full-time student, you will receive free prescriptions.
If you are over 19 then you can apply for help with health costs. Whether or not you get help will depend on your income. To apply you need to fill in a HC1 form. Ring 0845 610 1112 or visit your local GP, Dentist or 'Jobcentre Plus' office for an application form. You can apply for help with NHS prescriptions , NHS dental treatment, NHS wigs and fabric supports, sight tests, glasses and contact lenses, and travel for NHS treatment under the care of a consultant.
International Students
As an international medic you will be eligible to register with a GP in the UK and will be eligible for treatment in NHS hospitals.
For help with prescriptions and other health costs submit a HC1 form (see above). |
