British Medical and Dental Students' Trust
BDA Elective Awards are now available to dental students as part of the BMDST, which provides awards for overseas electives. Applications are judged twice a year with closing dates in January and July.

LEPRA (British Leprosy Relief Association)
Lepra offers bursaries to students undertaking electives in leprosy projects or research. Bursary holders must submit a report after the project is completed.
Applicants should submit an outline of the work they wish to undertake including costs and funds already secured, a copy of their CV, a supporting letter from their tutor and a letter of acceptance from the host institution

The Wellcome Trust - Biomedical elective research prize
Awards of up to £1000 for personal expenses and £600 for research expenses are available to undergraduates planning to conduct a specified research project under supervision. This may be in any discipline and can be held in any established research laboratory in the UK or abroad.
Projects must last for at least four weeks. A report of at least 1500 words, containing valid scientific data, should be submitted to the Trust within eight weeks of completing the elective.
Applications are made through your medical school who are asked to nominate one candidate for each award and one reserve candidate. If you wish to apply for this award please contact the dean of your medical school.
Deans are asked to submit all the nominations from their school at the same time, at any time between November and May. Contact your medical school to check you can still make a submission.

The British Society for Haematology
The Society are offering Student Scholarships of up to £600 to support undergraduates undertaking electives in the field of Haematology.
Applications should include details of the project, approximate costs, a copy of your CV, a letter of support from the Dean or Clinical Tutor and a letter from the person supervising the project.

British Geriatrics Society
A limited number of grants of up to £500 are offered to enable medical students to make use of their elective or holiday period for a project concerned with health or health care in old age - either in the UK or abroad. The grants are available to medical undergraduates entering their penultimate or final year of study in the next academic year. Projects must last 6 weeks and a report of around 1000 must be submitted after completion. Applications can be made throughout the year. Decisions are usually made within 5 to 6 weeks.
