Taking a second degree at Oxford or Cambridge?
If you are starting a second degree course at Oxford or Cambridge University from 2006/07 onwards you may be eligible to take out a College Fee Loan(CFL) from the Student Loans Company to help with the additional college fee which may be charged by the Oxbridge Colleges. This applies whether you are taking the undergraduate course or the accelerated graduate course. You will be able to borrow any amount up to the maximum charged by your College. The position with regard to the payment of tuition fees remains as described in the related link on taking medicine as a second degree.
To be eligible to apply:
- You must normally live in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland (Scottish domiciled students are not eligible).
- You must already hold a UK honours degree from a publicly funded institution.
- You must satisfy the same eligibility criteria as those which apply to the maintenance loan.
- If you are potentially eligible your College will give you a CFL information leaflet and application form which you should complete and pass back to your College for validation. The College will then send your application to the SLC who will issue payment if you are entitled.
Consult your College for more information and to find out whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
